45 Sewall Street

Quincy, MAssachusetts

45 Sewall was an exciting gem I was lucky enough to photograph for TruDesign. The owners have a strong love for colors and a fascination for mid-century modern styles. We were brought on to capture the three sections of the home that had recently been renovated. The kitchen, a mudroom, and a powder room. On the day of our shoot, it was a perfect partially cloudy day that worked well for the rooms we captured because we were able to see how each space coexists with natural light and when the clouds decided to diffuse the sun.

The kitchen was equipt with Omega Cabinetry which was painted with a custom SW 6951 Cote d'Azur Blue, which worked very well with the Natural Walnut wall cabinets. The Morning Frost countertops by Daltile and Quartz worked in tandem with the matte black Delta Trinsic faucet and the cabinet handles. The Metro Rhombus matte white with charcoal grout backsplash by Elite Tile really brought the whole space together while setting itself apart.

At some point, the homeowner's kids came home from school, and I recall the father conversing with his daughter about her day, and it was all happening in the mudroom. So part of me felt that the mudroom was somewhat of a particular area in this home for this family. They decided to get custom-built cabinetry painted with SW 6911 Confident Yellow. The cabinets were paired with this lovely glossy Natural Walnut benchtop. As I was admiring the mudroom, my mind briefly conjured up some elementary school flashbacks because the Soho Studio Corp Elementary Series flooring reminded me of soccer balls at recess.

The third and final area we photographed at 45 Sewall was this fun powder room that showcased the same cabinetry, Cote d'Azur Blue, and Morning Frost countertops as the kitchen. Since the powder room is connected to the mudroom room, you will find the same Soho Studio Corp Elementary Series flooring. The things that really help the mudroom tell its own story are the faucet and wallpaper. The Limon Jaclo Contempo faucets looked so playful that I can imagine the little ones confusing it for a toy. The Retro Lemon wallpaper by Graham and Brown is just visually pleasant and worked well with the faucet and the SW 7064 Passive wall color.

This project was a really fun, colorful, joyful, and playful project to capture. I admire the bold choices of colors and the mixing of contrast which, in the end, gave birth to something this family can confidentially call home.
